In talking with Chad Mills after a show, you may be surprised to learn that he is an engineer by day. After all, the engineer & the musician are two completely different breeds. The engineer is a problem solver…analytical, driven by facts, indifferent to emotion. The musician is more spiritual….creative, fueled by feel and passion. The unfortunate reality is that the engineer is typically the one bringing home a steady income. So for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week – Chad puts on his “Mask” and works for a paycheck. But on show nights, when he walks into a joint with his guitar in hand…you can just sense that this is real for him. The stage is where he belongs.
Being a versatile vocalist has enabled Chad to perform with a handful of different bands in the last few years, with drastically different styles. But take away the drums & the screaming guitars…strip him down to a microphone and a guitar…and this is where he is the strongest. Music, to him, is holy. He is indebted for the impact it has had in his life. He believes in what he does, and he takes it seriously. Just listen to him sing. Hear his voice. In his words, you will find experience and emotion. In his voice, you will find sincerity and passion. He is, without a doubt, in it for the music.
